Every year I like to report on how much it costs to do kitchen remodeling in Philadelphia. I get this information from Remodeling Magazine’s annual Cost versus Value report http://www.remodeling.hw.net/cost-vs-value/2015/middle-atlantic/philadelphia-pa/ .
This report looks at two different kitchen remodels, midrange and upscale. The midrange assumes a 200 square foot kitchen that is outdated with 30 linear feet of semi-custom wood cabinets, laminate countertops, standard double sink and standard faucet. This includes a wall oven, cooktop, ventilation system, built in microwave, dishwasher, disposal and custom lighting. Floors and paint are included. The quality would be considered Lowes’ or Home Depot’s higher end or Teknika’s bronze level.
The upscale kitchen remodel space assumptions are the same, but the cabinets are custom cherry with built in storage accessories. The countertops are stone with a glass tile backsplash, built in refrigerator, cooktop and 36 inch commercial grade range and vent hood with a warming drawer, trash compactor and combination microwave and convection oven. There is an under mount sink with a designer faucet and built in water filtration system. The lighting is low voltage and includes under cabinet and task lighting. The floors are cork. This would be considered a higher end kitchen remodeling project for Philadelphia at Teknika.
The cost of the midscale kitchen remodel for 2015 is $63,187. That is a 2% increase from 2014. The cost of upscale kitchen remodel is $124,180. This is a 4% increase.
